Permalink Reply by John [Hootless Crew] on August 2, 2011 at 11:51am Audio book vs reading? My quick thoughts so far having tried both.
When you repeat Presence Process you alway notice stuff you had missed. Probably like reading almost any book. I am inclined to think I would have missed more if I started by listening than if I started by reading. However, if you go the audio book route it would be easy enough to balance out that tendency by listening more than once. Of course it is always possible to do both, either concurrently, or when doing the process twice.
There is now also an ebook which I have not tried. My experience with other books is that I do better with a hard copy than reading on the laptop. Not sure whether having an ebook reader would change that.
Permalink Reply by Lisa [Hootless Crew] on August 3, 2011 at 8:39pm Me too - completed the first 10 weeks - read the revised edition first, now for round two I am in the audio version. I have to say it is beautifully read, and I enjoy being able to listen over and over again whilst out doing other things like walking. For my third round of the process I might run it with the original book, if I can find a copy! David Ord has done an incredible job reading all of that out loud for the audio - :)
Then I will have done all three. And yes John there is an e-book now it has just been launched and the links are up there for Namaste Publishing it can be accessed 24 hours a day in a simple download, as can the audio version.
This is too good not to be shared with the world. It supports TSM in every possible way in my opinion as it is all about accepting and sitting with the feeling (welcoming) - its fast and it is indeed life changing. But, it has to be taken for checking, when the reader is ready, nothing we can say or do can determine when that will be....
"The only way out is through" - Michael Brown
Permalink Reply by John [Hootless Crew] on October 5, 2011 at 9:34am Another note just on my personal take on the formats and resources, for anyone starting TPP.
The Presence Process requires no investment apart from using the main Presence Process book. There are no certified practitioners, though the author does recommend a particular breathworker in case anyone wants personal support. You do need to buy the book.
In addition to the book, there is a one hour audio on the publisher's website by Michael Brown called 'The Bridge' which I would say is definitely worth buying. It clarifies the author's work. To some extent it overlaps with his book Alchemy of the Heart.
There are several books supporting The Presence Process for free download on thepresenceportal.com which I have read, but for me they were not essential. More important is to stay focused on the main Presence Process book, everything is there really.
Also check out some of the free audios on the website, especially the Presence Process One on One http://www.thepresenceportal.com/One-onone%20session.htm. This, and 'The Bridge' audio, I found the most useful supporting material alongside the main book.
That website has a couple of clips of how to do the breathing exercise, but when questioned the author and editor make it clear that it really does not matter how you do it. The objective is to pause not at all, or as little as possible between breaths. Whether it is fast or slow, deep or shallow breathing, all is allowed, just do it however suits you.
The second, revised edition of the book (used also in the audio book version) is much superior to the first edition. The first 'works' but costs more reading effort for the same effect. In other words, if you are buying a secondhand copy, be sure to get the revised ed (unless your curiostiy impels you to get both!).
On the question of audio book and ebook, I find this is a book to be read and absorbed slowly. I have not tried the ebook, and do not have an ebook reader, but reading on a PC for me would probably have been a mistake as I have found I usually absorb less on a PC than with a real book. With an audiobook, also I think I absorb less than a slow reading. There again, if you are going to listen many times, the audiobook may work for you as well or better than a paper book. I have used the audio book but not on my first time of doing the process; by the time I used it, I was fairly familiar with the content already.
Also, unless I made a mistake in downloading, the audio book seems not to contain the 'Fruits and Flowers' section (a long list of ways people may benefit from the process, from which list probably only a few will apply to you); or the 'Gift' (a guided meditation). These sections are at the end in the printed book. This is not a decisive reason for not using the audio book. It contains all you need to do The Presence Process.
Permalink Reply by Lisa [Hootless Crew] on October 5, 2011 at 1:44pm You are right John, I was wondering where the 'Fruits and Flowers' section was on the audio version.
I have just completed my second round of TPP. The first I did entirely with the new revised edition of the book. A profound experience indeed. The second time I primarily used David Robert Ords wonderful audio, but referred to the book where I needed to as a sort of dip in reference guide. A whole different experience!
I will be starting the third round soon and will be using the audio and also making sure to follow up reading the text week on week too. For maximum effect :)
I have loved TPP and found it personally to be more life changing than anything else EVER! It is a rollercoaster, not always perfectly comfortable. In my experience TPP doesn't just invite the feelings up, or mess around. It is as if it says: We know you are there, we are coming to get you, and you are coming up right now for the very last time, let's be done with it now!!!
The shifts I experienced were in no way subtle, they were huge, obvious and measurable. I never expected results such as those received. I am forever thankful to MB and DRO for bringing this to the world in the formats they have. It took me some time after buying the book to start it though. I had listened and read everything on the Presence Portal, Alchemy of the Heart too and done the 40 day/night process with great results. For some reason I was not ready to run with the book, and enter the process until it just happened and the time was right for me.
Has it changed my life radically? OH YES!!!

Permalink Reply by Chuck Goodwin, [SMaRT Host] on October 5, 2011 at 2:54pm Planning to start my second round on Oct. 16th, to finish up on Dec. 31st. I figure it's a good way to close out 2011 and let the fruits manifest starting on Jan. 1st, 2012. You know, 2012? LOL. Looking forward to it.
Anybody want to join me, starting on or about the 16th? We can have a weekly, round table discussion in one of the chat areas, or start a new one. We can even have a weekly group breathe, or two, at times that are convenient for people around the world.
Let me know your thoughts.
Permalink Reply by John [Hootless Crew] on October 6, 2011 at 11:29am I just finished fourth time a few days ago (except that one is supposed to keep up the breathing at least for a few weeks, I cannot remember exactly what he says). MB suggests 'about three times', but after a few months break it seemed right to do it again.
I can second Lisa's comments about its effectiveness. At times of course it is also decidedly painful for many of those who do it.
When Lester talks about letting up feelings and letting them out, it makes me think that he must have gone through something pretty intense during his three months of rapid change. For must of us releasing tends to be a more gradual and gentle process, whereas Presence Process does tend to cause rapid changes. Not sure way, maybe it is the different intentions we have for these different practices.
