Also available on UK Amazon. But you have to go to US Amazon to find reviews.
Looks interesting from the reviews. Has anyone here read it? Can anyone comment on how it compares with other books by the same author? Havint seen this thread, I thought of reading it, but want to be sure I am starting with the most suitable of this author's writings.
Permalink Reply by Lisa [Hootless Crew] on September 8, 2011 at 1:51pm Hey John, the new paperback (pictured) is out soon....however Jim is leading the call for us this Sunday and, has offered the e-book to everyone that attends the call as a gift from him to us all. It would have cost quite a bit to buy and so is a wonderful gesture from Jim who has also just joined us here.
So, anyone reading this, register and join us on the call and you will receive to your Hootless.Com mail box a link for you to download this wonderful book.....:)
How does it get any better than this?

I have so far read the Introduction and Chapter 1. A (apparently, the) key exercise is given in the Introduction. Whilst it is too early for a full review, I wanted to write something ahead of Sunday's call with author.
The book presents non-dual teaching with a remarkable freshness, and an up-to-date relevance. The teaching and its practical application are given together.
One reason that Mr Dreaver's teaching and practice are so accessible to the reader is that his writing is excllent. To what extent that reflects his own skill, or to what extent it is produced with the help of an editor, I know not, and for the reader it does not terribly matter. There is nothing sophisticated or artful about the writing. By excellent writing I do not mean that the prose displays the beautiful and elegant selection of words which marks good writing. I mean that the prose has the simplicity, directness, clarity and precision which is so natural that most of the time it goes unnoticed. This is the point where good writing ends, and great writing begins.
Teachers sometimes tell us that non-dual teaching is impossible to communicate in words, and that every teaching is merely a pointer. However, the clarity of Jim Dreaver's writing, and his practical approach to teaching, combine in this book to make the message very accessible, and immediately useful.
I should qualify the foregoing encomium by admitting the book will not be for everyone. Not because there anything in to criticize, but because we all learn in different ways, and there are other teachers communicating similar material who are also excellent. There is not a lot of point in naming names.
One interesting feautre of Jim Dreaver's book is that he does refer to other contemporary teachers and their work. On the whole modern teachers in this and related fields refer to their 'colleagues' rather little. However, for readers who are consumers of several and various spiritual teachers' work (and let us face it, that will probably be true of most of the readers who find this book), these positive reference to other teachers are helpful. They are certainly more helpful than the gentle put-downs one hears from many 'gurus' of other, un-named, gurus who express things differently (since such expressions of scepticism or disagreement between teachers can leave the seeker confused).
All in all, my immediate and early impression of the book is positive enough to recommend it without hesitation to anyone who has enough interest in this kind of work to be reading hootless.com. If the book is any guide, the call with Jim Dreaver should also be a treat.
