Introducing Social Sign-In on Hootless.com

Dear Forum members!

You should now be able to sign in to this forum using your Facebook, Google or Yahoo account (if the application works correctly). One of the advantages, among others, is that you don't have to remember two different login passwords, for instance.

You can choose to sign in with any of these services by heading to the Connections page in your Settings Page (in the sidebar located to the right)

This will also make it easier for new/anonymous visitors to quickly become members and to pull their profile information directly from those sources instead of having to create the information all over again.

Why should I turn on Social Sign-In?
For most of your members, turning this on is all about convenience. Existing members will now be able to sign in with a single click. Those who use Social Sign-In when signing up won’t have to remember a password, nor will existing members who link their accounts using Social Sign-In. Even better, much of their basic sign-up info will automatically be filled out for new members

When a new member signs up with a Google or Yahoo account, we are able to automatically pull in their name and email address. When they sign up via a Facebook account, we can additionally pull in a profile photo, birthdate, gender, and — in the coming weeks — location, if the user allows that data to be pulled.
